Dutch Oven Cookoff
Plan to be a part of this year’s Hells Canyon Mule Days Dutch Oven Cook-Off and enter your team for this fun filled event. The goal of this event, first and foremost, is to have fun, demonstrate Dutch Oven cooking skills, and introduce the public to the joys of Dutch Oven cooking.
A panel of celebrity judges will use International Dutch Oven Society (IDOS) guidelines to determine the Hells Canyon Mule Days Dutch Oven Cook-Off winners. There will be first and second place awards in each of the two categories for both Adult and Youth with the winners taking home $100.00 and $75.00 respectively in each category. There will also be a special award for the winner of the overall People’s Choice.
We invite you to attend the 41st annual Again Hells Canyon Mule Days event and a complimentary three day admission button for each team member. Also, dry camping on the grounds (Fri.–Sun.) is available to the cook-off teams at no charge. Come spend the weekend with us!!!
Besides the cash awards for the winning entries and the People’s Choice prize, there will be a logo apron for each team member, and goody buckets for each team with lots of fun items for Dutch Oven cooking. Being the 41st Annual Mule Days event, we have an extra special gift for each team made by Mike Rowley, Forged In Fire Champion.
The Cook-Off event starts with Team Setup on Sunday at 7:30 am, Team Meeting at 8:30 am and Cooking starts at 9:00 am. There are two Cook-Off categories: main dish and/or dessert. Dishes presented at 12:00 noon. Judging and Peoples’ Choice tasting and judging 12:10 pm, General tasting at 12:20 pm, with awards to follow.
This is a great event for spectators to watch the Cook-Off teams work their cooking magic, and the public is invited to visit with the team members during the Cook-Off. Hells Canyon Mule Days Dutch Oven Cookbooks will be for sale, including recipes from this year’s cooking delights.
